What Those Who Teach Can Do
Mr. Parris was honored on March 7th at the Miami International University of Art and Design. His work will be on display for the Month of March at AI 1501 Biscayne Boulevard, Suite 100, Miami Fl, 33131.
Ray Parris, a Miami-base artist, Teacher and community considers himself a “Community Artist”. His current body of work demonstrates a personal narrative on life. Through the use of mixed media and the combination of expressive figurative paintings, Mr. Parris conveys his conceptual idea. Paintings like “Muted”, which is featured on the cover of Miami-Dade County Parks 2008 Fall Publication. The painting depicts the social and political struggles that individuals face in America. “I paint ideas that visually reflect the culture and issues around the world.”
He has exhibited paintings in museums and galleries in Baltimore MD., Miami FL., and St. Croix U.S.V.I.. He has had solo exhibitions at the African Diaspora Gallery in Miami, and Art Galleries in Baltimore. He has participated in group exhibitions at Art Basel in Miami, FL. (Private Gallery). Ray Parris is also an alumnus of the Maryland Institute College of Art.
